I think the guideline is 24 hrs, though 48 might be better. When you donate whole blood, you lose about 10% of your red blood cells, and it makes a difference during high exertion exercise.
I donated blood a fews weeks ago and I went for a 20 mile bike ride the next day. I got winded going up some moderate hills, and thought I was really out of shape, until I remembered that I donated the day before. (duh, of course!)
RBCs are produced in your bone marrow, and they take about 7 days to develop. Their typical lifetime is 120 days.

Now. Restrictions on healthy donators are only for the day of giving blood. You should be fine how. You didn't donate enough to make you anemic, and any fluid changes that occured after donation have been corrected by your body.

You're supposed to take it easy for 8 hours. You should be okay as long as you eat well, rest a little bit, and didn't react weird to donating. They caution against lifting heavy things, etc, in case of reopening where the needle was, but i've never had that happen.
Wait...the 17th? Oh yeah, you're fine to exercise by now. Have fun.

I usually go to the gym and start pumping iron within an hour of donating blood, and i donate twice as much as other people do, so dont worry about it.

It will be more save if you do your intense exercise after one week giving your body the opportunity to compensate the lost Red blood cells.

Go ride your bike no need to wait. If you are young and healthy giving 1 unit of blood will not hinder you in any way... just drink some juice and you are good to go.

First of all it's exercise! Usually around Saturday or Sunday is the best time. Eating steak can help you regain the blood you loss also.
