We want to know what numbers belong to the image of (a + 1)(a +2b) / 2, and I believe it's all natural numbers except those in the form of 2^n based on plugging in some numbers.

But I don't know how to start proving.

Solve each system of inequalities by graphing

x+y<8
x greater then or less then 0
y greater then or less then 0

( fyi, greater then or less than is this > with a line underneath)

technically I already have the answer

at y i have it plotted at 6 (y vertical line)

and at x i have it plotted at 7

My problem is I keep looking at this problem having no clue how that answer is true. I also dont understand the whole shade up or shade down thing (in this problem its shaded below so that with the line drawn it looks like a right triangle)

so to sum it up could someone tell me how to graph these types of problems?

The gym is 21 years newer than the auditorium. The gym is also one fourth as old as the auditorium. How old is each building?

This is my equation:
x = auditorium
x-21 = gym
1/4x = gym

Therefor..

x - 21 = 1/4x

When I try to solve it, I just can't seem to figure it out. Is this the right equation? Please solve it and explain for me please.

This problem is so twisted. I tried like three times but could not get it:
The length of a rectangle is twice its width "w". A second rectangle, which is 8 cm longer and 3 cm marrower than the first rectangle, has perimeter 154 cm. Find the dimensions of each triangle.
Explain to me please? And do not call me stupid!

Consider the polynomial (x-a) (x-b) and the real number line

a) identify the points on the line at which the polynomial is zero. (see figure)
b) In each of the three subintervals of the line, write the sign of each factor and the sign of the product.
c) for which x-values does the polynomial change signs?

figure:
---o-----------------------o----->
a b

o stands for a closed circle btw

Simplify:
1. x[2x+5(3x+9)] =
2. 4a(a-3)-a2+4= (its supposed to be a squared "a2")
3. x[2x+3 x 18]= (note its 3 times 18)

Ok! On number 1 if you multiply x[2x....] does that equal 2x or is that 3x? I can't remember. On number 2 the part where it says 4a(a-3)... I know you use the distributive property but does that equal 4a-12 or is that like 4a(squared)-12?

please show me how to do the problem! ^_^ thanks

When you have problems that involve a less than sign or a greater than sign, I know that it's crucial to express your answer in a certain way. I know it involves the concept of and vs or, and I know the U (and the upside down U) for union are involved. I apology for the lack of clarity of my question, but could someone give me some guidance here? Thanks!
