1. A 36-ft ladder rests against the edge of a roof. Four feet of the ladder's length extend beyond the edge of the roof, which is 28 ft above the ground level. Find the tangent and secant of the angle that the makes with the ground.

2. The angle of elevation from a point on the ground to the top of the pyramid is 35degrees 30 minutes. The angle of elevation from a point 135ft farther back to the top of the pyramid is 21 degrees. Find the height of the pyramid.

I know that if f and g are functions which are continuous at the point x = a, then the sum of f + g is continuous at x = a. But if f & g are continuous for all real x, will the sum & division of both be continuous for all real x as well? I think no, but I don't know how to prove it >_<
1 more question. If f(x)=g(x), for x isn't equal to c and f(c) isn't equal to g(c), then f & g aren 't continuous...is this true?I think it's false, but i don't know what function should I use.

Help please!
Thank you very much!

I'm trying to follow an example solution, but having trouble with how the author got from:
1/[1+0.3e^(-0.276t)]
to
= [e^(0.276t)]/ [(e^(0.276t)) + 0.3]
How could this have been done?

Delivery truck is required to make five stops on its morning route. Let X denote # of on-time deliveries for a given morning, let f denote probability mass function of X, and let F denote the cumulative distribution function of X. Historical data suggests that:

f_X (5) = 0.88, f_X (4) = 0.06, f_X (3) = 0.03, f_X (2) = 0.02, f_X (1) = 0.008, f_X (0) = 0.002

1. Construct cumulative distribution function of X.
2. Determine probability that truck makes at least 4 on-time deliveries.

Any help or advice on how to start solving this problem would be great. My professor is not great at explaining and most of the class is lost in this subject.

P(A n B) = 0.05, P(B n c) = 0.10, P(A n c) = 0, P(B n D) = 0

*D is a special case of C

1. The probability that has B but not A?
2. The probability does not have B but has A?
3. Does having D depend on whether or not patient has A?
4. Does having D depend on whether or not patient has C?

A cardiac monitor is used to measure the heart rate of a patient after surgery. It compiles the number of heartbeats after T minutes. When the data in the table are graphed, the slope of the tangent line represents the heart rate in beats pero minute. The monitor estimates this value by calculating the slope of a secant line. Use the data to estimate the patient's heart rate after 42 minutes using the secant line between the points with the given values of T. (give answers correct to 1 decimal place)

T (min)- --36-----38-----40-----42------44

a) T = 36 and T = 42

b) T = 38 and T = 42

c) T = 40 and T = 42

Vector m has a magnitude of 5 m directed east
Vector p has a magnitude of 4 m directed 35 degrees west of due north.
1)What are the magnitude and direction of vector m + vector n
2)What are the magnitude and direction of vector n - vector m

I don't get how to draw the diagram to set up my problem, what exactly is 35 degrees west of due north? is the angle still going to be 35? (its in the 2nd quadrant isn't it)?
Also how would I find the magnitude and direction...thanks

I have integral sqrt (x^2-9)/ x^3 dx

I know that theta is inverse sec (x/3). but I'm clueless of how to end this problem. If possible, please show me the steps of how you proceed through the problem.
