(3 x y ² + 12 y ²) = (3 y ²) (x + 4)
(2 x ² - 11 x + 5) = (2 x - 1 )(x - 5)
2 x y + 8 y = (2 y)(x + 4)
(8 x ² + 2 x - 3) = (4 x + 3) (2 x - 1):-

(3 y ²) (x + 4) (4x + 3) (2x - 1)
----------------------------------------
(2x - 1)(x - 5) (2y)(x + 4)

3y (4x + 3)
--------------
(2) (x - 5)

FOIL ability you multiply the 1st, Outer, inner, and final (4x + 3)(2x + 5) First 4x * 2x = 8x^2 Outer 4x * 5 = 20x inner 3 * 2x = 6x and final 3 * 5 = 15 So including thes values we get 8x^2 + 20x + 6x +15 = 8x^2 +26x +15

Your problem is : A/B divided by C/D, right?

Change it to A*D/B*C, ie, division is multiplication by reciprocal. SO, we have

(3xy^2 + 12y^2) * (8x^2 + 2x -3)
----------------------------------------, FACTOR
(2x^2 - 11x +5) * (2xy+8y)

3y^2(x+4) * (4x +3)(2x -1)
----------------------------------, cancel terms
(2x -1 )(x -5) * 2y(x+4)

3y^2 * (4x+3)
-------------------, cancel y
(x-5) * 2y

3y*(4x+3)
-------------. Done.
2*(x-5)

first we factor

[ (3y^2)(x+4y) / (x-5)(2x-1) ] / [ (2y)(x+4y) / (4x+3)(2x-1) ]

we then get the reciprocal and procede to multiplication

[ (3y^2)(x+4y) / (x-5)(2x-1) ] * [ (4x+3)(2x-1) / (2y)(x+4y) ]

multiply

(3y^2)(x+4y)(4x+3)(2x-1) / (x-5)(2x-1)(2y)(x+4y)

we then cancel out the same factors

(3y^2)(4x+3) / (x-5)(2y)

we then cancel y

(3y)(4x+3) / (x-5)(2)

then we simplify

(12xy+9y) / (2x-10)
