I generally find that teachers do not explain the concept of Derivetive and its theory properly. The students solve the problems blindly by applying formulae or by applying the first principle. Can anybody fill this gap please for a better understanding of the concept?

Example:
1st day: 1 cent
2nd day: 2 cents
3rd day: 4 cents
4th day: 8 cents
5th day: 16 cents
6th day: 32 cents
and so on and so forth for a period of 60 days?

You might do the math, and be really surprised just how much money you would be earning in 60 days using this formular!

So, would you still be willing to hire me?

PS. This isn't "fuzzy math" people, but it is very interesting!

Thank you,

Prove that [ (1 - sin x) / (1 + sin x) ]^1/2 = sec x - tan x when x is acute.
(Please start from LHS and without altering the equation on RHS)

Why is the restriction on x necessary?

Thanks in advance!

Write an equation that can be used to solve the following problem: The cubic function C(t) = 1.054t3 + 28.0729t2 + 238.50t + 1122.6 can be used to model carbon emission in millions of metric tons from consumption of solid fuels (e.g. coal and wood) in the U.S. in the year 2000 + t. According to the model, in which year(s) will (or was) carbon emission from the consumption of solid fuels equal to 900 million metric tons.

I put:
900 = 1.054(t)^3+28.0729(t)^2+238.50(t)+1122.6

But it was marked wrong. Where did I go wrong?
