2x+3y= 14
3x-4y= 4

6x+9y=42
6x-8y=8

so 17y=34
y=2

3x= 4+4y with y=2
3x=12
x=4

2x+3y=14 ------> x3
3x-4y =4 ------> x2

6x+9y=42 minus
6x-8y=8
-----------------------
9y-(-8y) =34
17y =34
y =2

2x+3y = 14
2x + 3(2)=14
2x +6 =14
2x = 14-6
2x = 8
x = 4

x=4
