I generally find that teachers do not explain the concept of Derivetive and its theory properly.The students solve the problems blindly by applying formulae or by applying the first principle.Can anybody fill this gap please for a better understanding of the concept?

Derivative simply means the slope of the tangent line. For example f(x)=ax^2+bx+c the slope of the tangent or the derivative is 2ax+b=0; x=-b/2a
