Hey,

I've got a que about this:
log(sub)2 (-x - 3) - log(sub)2 (x - 1) - log(sub)2(x + 3) = 1

I did this first -

log(sub)2 [(-x - 3) / (x - 1) / (x + 3)] = 1

and then i just cant figure out.
All suggestions greatly appriciated.

log(sub)2 x + log(sub)2(x-2) - log(sub)2(x-3) = 3
log(sub)2 [x(x-2)/(x-3)] = 3
(x^2 - 2x)/(x-3) = 2^3=8
x^2 - 2x = 8x - 24
x2 - 10x + 24 = 0
(x-6)(x-4) = 0

x=6, 4

My textbook has a problem where it asks me to find the radius of a cone. It gives me an area of 500pi u^2 and a height of 5 ft. However, I can't seem to get the right answer. I think that it is because the formula T=pi*r*l+pi*^2 calls for lateral height. Can someone please help me solve this problem?
