Okay, I'm on a quiz bowl team and we have questions like this all of the time. No one on my team knows how to do them. We only have ten seconds to get the answer so we can't go 21+22+23+24...+40. So, I figure there must be some shortcut to figuring this out. Thanks in advance!

the conditional probability that all four flips will be heads. Then calculate the conditional probability of flipping four heads, given that the first two flips were heads. Now assign a random variable x, where the value of x is equal to the number of heads observed in the flips. Describe the probability distribution of x, and calculate the probability of observing three heads in four coin flips. (I don't even know where to start on this so if any statistics buffs could help me out I would really appreciate it)

three guys walk in to a hotel and the owner tells then that he is going to charge them $30 for the night. They agree and each one piches in $10 they give it to the bell boy.then the owner tells the bell boy that he will only charge them $25 for the night so. the bell tells them that he will give them back $1 dollar to each and keep two they agree.
So if at the end each one piched in $9 an 9x3 =27
plus $2 dollars that the bell boy kept is a total of $29

what happend with the extra dollar?
