Boxing Match. A boxing ring is in the shape of a square 20ft on each side. How far apart are they in opposite corners of the ring?

a^2 + b^2 = c^2
a = b = 20 ft
c = sqrt (a^2 + b^2)

c = sqrt (20^2 + 20^2) = sqrt(400 + 400) = sqrt 800 = 28.28 ft

Square root of ( 20^2 + 20^2 ) = 28.28 feet
