How would I solve this equation: e^e^x=10? This should be read as "e" to the "e to the x" power equals ten. Thanks.

How would you use the properties of logarithms to expand this function: ln of 3x^2 divided by (x+1)^5. This should be read as the natural log of three x squared over x+1 to the fifth power. Thanks.

How would you differentiate this function: e^x/(1+x)? This should be read as e to the x over one plus x. Exponential functions and their deriatives are tough!

The area of a sector of a circle with a central angle of 2 radians is 16 m^2. Find the radius of the circle.

I know the formula for the area of the circle is A= (pi)(radius)^2/ 2

Don't answer with PI or stuff like that. I would like to know the formal definition.

1. A circular city has radius r km and average population density p people per sqaure km. In 2002, the population was 3 million, the radius was 25 km and growing at 0.1km per year. If the density was increasing at 200 people per square km per year, find the rate at which the total population of the city was growing at that time.

So I kinda set up the problem first.
population =3
r=25km
dr=0.1km/yr
dp=200people/km^2/yr

so is the population a function of r and p? I got stuck, and don't know which method i should use. Can anyone gimme some ideas?

With all modern technical help in class today, would you still be able to calculate the square root, or maybe even the 3rd, if you only had a piece of blanc paper and a pencil?

Combining e, π, i, 1, and 0 (arguably the five most important numbers in math) into one equation is elegant. Combining factorials and powers into infinite sums via a Taylor series to evaluate e or values of trig functions is amazing. Both of these circumstances bring a connectivity to mathematics that is beautiful to behold.

To me, one of the most beautiful things in math is that when the parabola is rolled along its curvature, the path of the parabola's focus creates a catenary... a link connecting quadratic equations to hyperbolic functions.

This is a personal opinion question... what in mathematics is beautiful to you?
