A janitor at a motel is covering for the clerk while he is in the restroomand 3 men walk in wanting 1 room. The janitor, not knowing the correct rates, says $10 a person for a total of $30. When the clerk comes back and finds out, he tells the janitor the rate for 1 room is $25 and that the janitor needs to give $5 in change. So, with no way to split $5 among 3 people, the janitor pockets $2 and give $1 to each of the 3 men.

(now the problem)
If each man paid $10 and got $1 in change, than they each paid $9. $9 multiplied 3 times is $27. The janitor pocketed $2 for a total of $29. So where is the last dollar to total the original charge of $30?

"I have developed the power of mind over matter. If one of you will stand in one corner of this room and toss 100 pennies, I will stand in the opposite corner and, through the sheer power of thought, cause those penny tosses to come up heads. Now mind you, I don't claim that each and every toss will come up heads—I haven't yet perfected this skill to the level of 100 percent. But what I will do is produce an impressive number of heads, to the point where you will at least be willing to take my claim seriously."

No, I'm serious... sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and I look at the clock and it says "03:14" -- or I get in my car and when I turn it on it says "03:14" exactly... Is this some kind of sign? Are there any numbers which keep showing up in your life over and over so they have "magical" significance?

Ok, I know Pi follows 3.14159..., is irrational and may be defined by the ratio between the perimeter and the diameter of a circle. However, with no serious mathematical implications it could be defined as multiple of it, let's say twice: 6.2831... Therefore I suppose the definition is just arbitrary, am I right?
