For these measurements, it doesn't matter what the height of your room is.
The measurement is in square feet, which is length x width (the floor area of the room). I would think that the manufacturer would assume a room height of 8 ft, since that is the standard height for most homes. Since your walls are only 7 feet tall (hope your baby doesn't grow up to be a basketball player!), I would think that the purifiers would work over a slightly larger area (about 2500 sq ft).
Before going ahead, I would do two things: double-check the manufacturer's numbers (if they are in CUBIC feet, then as earlier posters have mentioned, 2200 cubic feet covers a 16x16 room), and measure the walls (I'll bet they're 8 feet tall).

A room is measured in cubic feet, not square feet. To find that, you have to multiply the room's length by the room's width by the room's height. Here is the equation:
L x W x H = room's area in cubic feet
You already have H(height), so all you need is the length and the height of the room and make sure that the area is less than 2200 square feet.
As long as the area of your room is less than 2200 feet, it's guaranteed that the air purifier will cover the entire room.
Here's what you are hoping for:
L x W x H <= 2200 cubic feet
(<= means "less than or equal to", an inequality sign in math)

You are looking for cubic feet not square feet if you are measuring the ceilings. If the air purifier covers 2200 sq ft than it is rated for an average size house not just one room.

You don't need the height of the room to calculate the square footage. Just multiply the length and width of the room. (If you need cubic feet or volume then you would also need to multiply by the height).
2,200 square feet is a pretty big area. That would be about an average house so I wouldn't think that you'd need more than one. Maybe one for the upstairs, one for the downstairs if you have a two story house.

Square footage in this instance is referring to the area the floor covers, from wall to wall. For instance, if your living room is 20x20, that's 400 square feet. If the bedroom is 10x15, that's 150 square feet. Cubic feet takes into consideration the height of the room and gives you the volume of air in cubic feet. It sounds as though they base their rating on the flooring space, probably as dust tends to settle on the floor and other things in the space, rather than on the walls. 2200 square feet is much bigger than a typical apartment; I live in New York and an average one bedroom apartment ranges from 600 to 900 square feet. My mom has a modular home with three bedrooms and two baths and I believe that is around 2200 square feet.

Square feet is a measurement of area not volume. You need to find the volume that the air purifier can cover.
Then multiply....
the width of the room, by the length of the room, by the height (7ft).
...This will equal the volume

That sounds like a big one. They come in different sizes. For a small room you only need a smaller one. The table top ones I never liked. Sams Club ( samsclub.com ) has a package deal with 3 units. One large and 2 medium for under $200. This group works fantastic! I used to have parties non-stop with ton of smoke and my house NEVER smelled. People gave me compliments. Check that out. Check the link below to get an idea of what size you need.

square footage is floor space, length times width.
Cubic footage is length, times width, times height.
