One percent is the same as one hundredth - one percent of 25 is the same as 25 ÷ 100, which equals 0.25. To find 40% you need to multiply 0.25 by 40, this works out to be 10.

Another way to do this is to convert the % into a decimal number and this is done by dividing by 100 - so in this case divide 40 by 100 and this gives you 0.4. You then multiply this by 25 and again the answer is 10.

Here's how I solved this in my mind:
I found 10% of 25 by moving the decimal one place to the left, which equals 2.5.
Since 2.5 is 10%, I can simply multiply this in my head by 4 to get 40%. In other words, 4 X 2.5 = 10, which is your final answer.

40% of 25 is the same as saying .4 * 25 which is equal to 10. just remember when you see the word "of" it means multiply. Hope that helps

40% is .4. So you need to do .4x25. Hopefully that's enough of a hint.

You need only look at the first answer to this question to see why getting help on the answer board is probably a bad idea . . .
