I am currently working full-time but I am not really happy with what I am doing right now. I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology and almost done with my M.S. in Management. Do you think it would be wise to go back to school for a B.S. in Environmental Studies or Environmental or Civil Engineering if I were really interested in the environment?

We are doing a project, and it's aimed for a community in Mali where they have a 10 month dry season. They have a swamp where they can extract water from. So we are looking to design a water pump that would feed the water into the tank. Does anyone know where could get more information on these types of water pumps, or has information on them?

Thanks

I have been working on a new form of electrical production, that I believe is very revolutionary. If my invention came to light, could I possibly win the Nobel Prize? Is there a catagory for this? It really doesn't fall into physics, more into engineering.

I have some aledgedly AA6061-T6 material but it fails the tensile strenth, elongation, and area reduction tests according to ASTM B211-92a. It was also noted that the copper content of that material is higher than allowable for 6061 alloy composition.
Q1: Can higher copper content in Al alloy reduce tensile strength and lead to higher deformation?
(Note that Si and Mg components were within allowable range).
Q2: Any other "typical" reasons for failing tensile strength in Al ?

A machine has an 760g steel shuttle that is pulled along a square steel rail by an elastic cord . The shuttle is released when the elastic cord has 16.0N tension at a 45º angle. What is its initial acceleration?

I would appreciate any help that could be offered. I don't really want an answer, just a push in the right direction.

Hello, I'm considering studying mechanical engineering at the university. However, I am a terrible drawer and am usually clumsy when working with my hands. However, I am very creative and love working as part of a team. Should my lack of drawing skills question my ability to become an engineer? I love working with machines and stuyding mechanics, and I would like to know if drawing skills are really that important.
