Does Technical Progress Make Us Lazy? Lets see…
Are you lazy because you would rather turn on a faucet instead of going to the river 10 times a day and carrying back your water?
Are you lazy because you want to turn on your faucet and fill your bath tub with hot water instead of boiling all that water you spent all that time fetching and boiling it in a great big cauldron and then transferring it into the bath tub?
Are you lazy when you pull the stopper on your bath tub after your nice hot bath instead of carrying that bathwater outside and dumping it?
Are you lazy because you would rather go to the toilet in your nice warm bathroom instead of the smelly outhouse?
Are you lazy because because you want to drive to the grocery store rather than get into a horse drawn buggy.
Are you lazy because you want to get on a plane and visit your grandparents in Florida instead of taking a month or more in that horse drawn buggy?
Are you lazy calling your grandparents on the telephone instead of communicating by mail.
Are you lazy because you would rather keep your food in a refrigerator, of take medicine when you are sick, or turn on the lights when its dark, or ask this question on the internet?
Does technical progress make us lazy? You tell me.
Any body who says YES, I would invite you to get off your lazy butts and sell your car, cancel your electricity and cable and TV and go down to the river and start fetching the water. And after that build the fire. And try not to burn down the neighborhood. Oh and keep off the internet. C ya

Sure does.. look at the obesity epidemic. 50 years ago when all the jobs available were hard manual labor, you never heard of the chronic diabetes, obesity, clogged arteries etc.
my ancestors were pennsylvania coal miners and would eat garbage like cabbage and fat. They worked their back ends off and all lived to their early 90's with no ill health like we see today.

In the work environment, tech increases our efficiency so that we can work less for the same result but instead of working less we are working just as hard to achieve more.
