We are doing a project, and it's aimed for a community in Mali where they have a 10 month dry season. They have a swamp where they can extract water from. So we are looking to design a water pump that would feed the water into the tank. Does anyone know where could get more information on these types of water pumps, or has information on them?

Thanks

Its been 20+ years since I last designed a water system (that was similar in many respects) so I don't remember the vendors. But you are either going to want a submersible pump or a verticle centrifugal pump to pull the water out of the swamp. Just google these and also google potable water pump.

You are going to have other issues such as head, flow and power requirements.

Other issues to worry about are your intake system and any screens and strainers to keep stuff out of area around the pump.

Good luck.

As an add on, you might also want, depending on your system, to look at a portable fire water pump. It will get you thinking.
