With tec advances, Why do they always still blast everything with a thousand gallons of water, the military has used preasure foggers for years, Also all the money spent on robots, explosive water charges, i would think that they would be using robots with explosive (afff) foam charges by now.

I am doing a school project an am looking for a pneumatic cylinder. What is the difference between rodless and not rodless cylinders? For my application, I need the piston like thing. Basically, what I am trying to do is use it to lift things, max of around 20 lbs. with a shaft size of 1.5'. Do any of you have any suggestions on where I can find them for the cheapest possible price?

I'm trying to make robotic agents using the Make Board....the idea is for them to emit sound/music for the programmers to hear....I was looking at a chip made by Oki (oki.com, pcm sound generator LSI)...the model number is ML2870A....here is the website:www.okisemi.com/english/pis/pi-ml2870.pdf....at the very least the robots each have to be able to emit different tones at different volumes - I would like them to each be able to make semi-complex sound patterns (known to humans as music), but I understand that this might not be possible.

So is this chip I am looking at compatible with the board? How might I use it? Are there other suggestions? I've made the project description brief as I cant give out too much info....but I would be more than happy to talk to people individually....Maybe there are other platforms than the Make Board that would be better for this?

I want to drill probably about a half inch hole into a glass vase. Is this possible? And if not, is there a type of material that would work better? Porcylon perhaps? I'd prefer it to be clear.

I noticed that there is a circular spring that moves when the watch is moving and when it stops, the watch stops. Maybe this is important?

Instead of buying a nice hookah I'd love to make my own.. I'm sure it could be done with some welding and the use of a glass vase.. has anyone tried this before? or does anyone know of any blueprints or plans on how to make a nice hookah? I'm not talking about a little water bong.

My younger brother, in 2nd grade, is doing a "Sink or Float" activity/ competition where he must build a 6" x 6" boat ( basically, a structure that can float; doesn't need to be shaped or look like one) and small tiles will be placed on it, with the boat that can hold the most being the winner. Does anyone know what kind of structure and materials would be the best to support the most ammount of weight? Some restrictions are that you can't use pre-made materials (like a milk jug, or tupperware) and it HAS to be the 6" x 6" dimension, or it won't fit in the bucket. We constructed a small raft with straws wrapped in tin foil that worked fairly well, and tried to use toilet paper roll tubes to make a "pontoon style" floatation device, but they got soggy. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks.
