Instead of buying a nice hookah I'd love to make my own.. I'm sure it could be done with some welding and the use of a glass vase.. has anyone tried this before? or does anyone know of any blueprints or plans on how to make a nice hookah? I'm not talking about a little water bong.

first of all, I just wanted to say there is no reason to believe this guy is using his hookah for drug related purposes, to jump to that conclusion is insulting.
a friend of mine made one using wood and a metal top piece (to smoke flavored tobacco mind you!). You could do something like that but it really didn't turn out that great in my opinion. the vase idea might work well with some metal bonded to the top, but I think this is a good example of one of those times you can feasibly do something but its not really worth your time or trouble to make an inferior product.

yeah but its a lot cheaper to order one from cairo egypt or just go online. I'm sure you could make one if you look at the ones they have there.
