how do you make a mechanic drawing to scale?

i am enclosing my porch and i need a drawing to scale

Architectural layout drawings are commonly drawn so that 1/4 inch on the drawing = 1 foot of actual measurement.
Details are drawn to larger scale, commonly 1/2 " = 1'.

You need to establish a scale like 1"=1'
then layout the drawing using this scaled measurement
