I`m doing a project for my physics/chemistry class for a mousetrap car..It`s supposed to be simple, since we`re only in middle school, and I can`t use any manufactured items (like Toy car wheels, lego wheels, etc.) or I`m just allowed to use things that I can find in my drawer or around the house.
Does anyone have any tips? Or help how to build a good one? o_o; All I have is a mousetrap..It needs to go at least 1-2m, have the body shape larger than the trap, and added material to produce traction to all wheels. :x

Please help? ^^;

Pictures do help as well, but I already skimmed through a lot of websites I looked up on Google/Yahoo...

Thank you. :D

Dear my friend,

I live in Ohio and go to a High School. I am currently doing a science fair project on solar energy. I am comparing a stationary solar cell system to a one axis tracking system. I am wondering if anyone would be able to give me a price quote of a fixed solar system and a movable one. Your help would be much appreciated.

I have already sent e-mail to three different “solar” companies. As of now, none have returned. If you answer, and want the more details of my project feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Zubacat

I have had this idea in mind that i could make this invention where its like a calculator with numbers and letters you punch in the adress of where you want to be turn the light towards you and zap yourself there.I honestly think its possible because camera's were invented weren't they? and so were these digits. but any ideas on how to make this better happen thanks.^-^

I have a measurement device that I want to calibrate. From observation, it appears that a quadratic cal equation will be needed, i.e., y = ax^2 + bx + c where y is the value to be displayed, x is the raw value produced by the device, and a, b, & c are the calibration coefficients. The plan is to simultaneously take 'n' different measurements from the device (i.e., a list of 'x' values) and from a calibration standard (i.e., a list of 'y' values) that are approximately uniformly distributed over the device measurement range and then to use least-squares regression to compute a, b, & c. The minimum value of 'n' is clearly 3. Intuitively, increasing 'n' will reduce the error of the calibration process, however I'm hoping to get some quantitative guidance in choosing 'n'.

I have one 6 years old son who is so interested in how to build bridges, tunnels, skyscrapers etc, and also fastinates about fast trains especially Maglev, and I am running out of ideas of constructions, experiments and all the TV programs I could provide. Could anyone give me suggestions where to find more challenges or interesting places like museums or exhibition centers (local or overseas ones) that can inspire us. Thank you.

My son is doing a science project where he is making a foam board phonograph. He'll spin a record with a hat pin connected to the foam board which will cause the vibrations to travel so that we can hear the music. The instructions say to use a hat pin.

I went to 2 craft stores to no avail. I do have corsage pins but nobody seems to know for sure if these can work to replace the hat pin. My questions are is a hat pin thicker than other pins - (maybe so that it can transfer the vibrations better)? And is it less sharp than a corsage pin? Did they not suggest corsage pins possibly because the sharp tip might scratch the record?

How much difference is there between the hat and corsage pin?
Thanks!
