Only one gemstone has a "horse hair" inclusion, which adds greatly to the value of this otherwise semi-precious gem. If you can name this stone species and color I will give you 5 stars. If you can only name the gem , I will give you 4. As a hint, this stone is found in all colors including black and is not a diamond.

As a software developer, I suspect that my job is "green", but I'm not sure that my employeer (an airline) can do much to conserve oil (query "peak oil").

What, in your opinion, would be a better, greener industry? I'd prefer to work in an industry that helps conserve oil and has a positive impact on all life on the planet.

Maybe healthcare?

this rock is very heavy almost like iron, but on closer examination it split apart revealing hundreds of black crystals ,I think it could be a metiorite but I really dont know for sure .I have talked to several coal miners and they have all said they have never seen anything like it .Now I'm open to any suggestion.

Looking at everything that happens in the world today from disease, global warming, war, 2012 prophecies, comets/meteors, etc. Could bringing all these "pieces" come together and form a puzzle to say "global catastrophe imminent in 2012".

Does the emf burst of nuclear detonations affect the magma flow below the crust of this planet? What is the effect on the Earth,s magnetic field and tectonics? I know that the magnetic field varies naturally, but have we disturbed it and started another disaster clock with our nuclear experimentation? Check field intensity drop off in last 50 years. Compare earth to mars in this respect for possible consequences. jTick, tick, tick...

Al Gore and others are making huge dollars trying to cool the planet. What if we aren't responsible or what if the earth just needs to go through a warming period to regenerate itself? We are an arrogant species are we not?

If energy is directed to this area and it would benefit science to know with existing technology seems this could be verified. Earth diameter is 8000 mi. assume a 4000 mi. hollow leaving 2000 mi. crust. Gravitational equalibrium by volume should be placed between 600 & 700 miles deep on the equator & 400 to 500 mi's on the poles, magma would be be in this section?

I live in central Connecticut, and I recently used a home water-testing kit (WaterSafe). My water tested as soft -- that part wasn't a surprise. We've always had.. slippery water. When visitors shower they complain that they still felt soapy after repeated rinsings. However, I was surprised to see that our water tested at about 9.5 using their ph test. It seems we have soft alkaline water.

There's a lot of sandstone and swamp around in our Connecticut low-land area, and as far as I know that might explain the soft water, but why would the water be so base, and should we be concerned by a 9.5 rating? There's a superfund landfill upstream (under a mile) from our place, so I'm a bit edgy.

Many thanks
