I planted wild flowers but this has grown from the soil along with them. I have no idea what it is. It looks like a young tree, it's about a foot and a half tall right now and producing berries which are green at first then turn purple. there are 3 total growing around the same place the others are smaller. do you have any idea what kind of tree/plant it is? Here are the links for pics of the berries it's producing and the leaves.

I was explaining to my students of first grade that a new plant develops from the seed and that seeds are found in the fruits of the plant.
My students raised the question why can't seeds found in fruits like apples, chikoos, etc. be used to cultivate a plant.
How should I solve/ explain their query?

I know, I know, this seems like a stupid question. But I read somewhere that you might be able to eat the ripe, dark berries on a deadly nightshade plant, and it may have medicinal effects rather than toxic effects.

I know for sure that the unripened green berries are poisonous-- thus the name: "deadly" nightshade.

But maybe they're both poisonous and I should just stay away... But curiousity demands that I ask the question!

Does anyone know what kind of fruit this is?
They are about the size of olives, but taste like plums. The skin is a dark indigo color, but the flesh is orange and red, like plums. It contains a long, pointed, flat pit.

It's about eight feet tall, and has grown to that height in about three months. Its stem has a pink-purple-green tint with segments like bamboo. The leaves are about a foot wide with seven sections/prongs each, and also have a purple tint, though not as distinct as the stem. The berries are the most unique. They're clustered in spear shapes. The individual berries are spikey and a dark periwinkle color, with one spot that's magenta or hot pink. Any ideas?

This plant has suddenly grown up outside my house. It is about 6 feet tall, and has a thick stem (maybe about 2 inches diameter. It is almost like a tree! The little green buds are from the plant, the orange flowers are not. The little green buds sprout into little white flowers.

Thanks!!!

10 points to proper identification!
