Pesticides are used to keep undesirable bugs, insects, fungi, nematodes, and bacteria from feeding on a plant. These chemicals include a "sticky" component. This allows the pesticide to be resident long enough to do what it does. Eventually, the majority of the pesticide will be washed off and breaks down in the surrounding environment. However, very small parts of these chemicals get taken in to the plant.

Organic pesticides are generally consider safe for humans. However, they do issues warnings, so abide by them. Also, certain organics, while somewhat harmless to humans are harmful to other animals.

Inorganic pesticides can be very dangerous to humans and just about anything else that is living. Some contain poisonous chemicals like arsenic.
