I thought i was once taught that when you eat before you go out into the cold its worse because your body is busy digesting the food and not as worried about keeping your body warm lowering the body temperature.

1. Why do scientists consider the following statement to be accurate although it may not appear to be true:

Nutrients are not really inside the body until they have passed through the wall of the small intestine.

2. Persons suffering from severe diarrhea may become dehydrated. Why does this happen?

Thank you to anyone who is willing to help.

Given that our bodies as we have them today are not exactly the same as what we had as children or even last week, and that cells are continuously being created and destroyed, what is the maximum age that a part of our body could be right now?

Or to put it in a different way, what is the oldest part of our body?

I'm guessing that bones dont change much, but maybe they do! Its easy to think of ourselves as unchanging, but since our hair is only as old as our last haircut + how many weeks it took to grow that much, maybe the same is true of our entire body!?!?!

I would love to know your interesting thoughts, beliefs, or theories about evolution, even if it's not your original idea. It could even something you read about. I am fasinated witht the idea and would like to hear what other people think. Please don't tell me evolution does not exist unless you have facts to back it up, and not just your religious beliefs. Thanks!

Alright- this is extra credit for me and I can't seem to find a clear answer. I read already that there are differences in the number of genes, but is that truly the only reason? There have to be enzymes or blocks of some kind- species identifiers? If you know, please help me out. Thank You

Sound is a pressure wave. Breathing in or out is air going in and going out respectively. So, would speech be a modulation of breathing into certain frequencies and the sound is changed further by changes in the path it takes out of the body (tongue, throat, lips)?

Ok, there was a cartoon on my exam and it had a big cockroach to small cockroaches and he said "Trust me, most of you would die off before you mature."

The question told us to illustrate one concept in the picture. I wrote overproduction. Overproduction is a concept that says that organisms produce a lot and most of them die off before they mature for certain number of reasons, such as disease and parasites, etc. Would that be marked correct? Please help

Given the primative nature of their brains can insects feel pain in the same way that mammals and higher animals do? I know they react to external stimuli which can be threatening such as heat, but is this just a reflex reaction or do they actually feel pain?
