what is the function of the blood vessels that run over the surface of the heart?

hi, i am just wondering what the answer to this question is. I really need to know the answer quick as it leads to the answer of my assignment question....anyway can some1 plz answer in basic detail

They supply blood to the heart.

They are very important blood vessels.

If they block, then blood flow does not reach that part of the heart muscle and the heart muscle can die. This is called a "heart attack" or a "myocardial infarction".

Have a read of the wiki page on the Coronary Circulation (the blood supply of the heart). It has a paragraph on the epicardial vessels (the ones on the surface of the heart).
