What is the liver's role in the distribution of lipids ? please provide reference

The liver produces bile which emulsifies fats. (the bile doesn't exactly digest the fat, it just forms little pockets around it breaking it up into smaller segments...it works very like a soap/detergent). Bile is stored in the gall bladder(a little balloon like bag attached to the liver) then released into the small intestines. Without the bile, fat/lipid removal would be quite challenging within our bodies.
