Why plan a manned mission to Mars, I mean they said they have landed on the moon, and allegedly had a look about, but years later they have discovered that there is frozen water on the moon, so if in our case, Water is the basis for all life on earth, then why not start with the moon, after all it is closer you can pretty much maintain communication all the time, would that not be a good place to try the experiment.

My question: How do they know this? From what I understand, there aren't any edges on the universe off which to bounce light or anything else.

i know that its impossible for us to see black holes right now because light, at its high speed, cant escape them.

but! if you do some research you can see that scientists have been able to speed up a beam of light several times faster than 186,000 miles a second. couldnt we use this to view a black hole? shine a beam of accelerated light towards a black hole and hope its strong enough to escape its gravity and give us a clear view of the black hole.

Well what the hell has happened to it.
Men have landed on the moon in 1969.
They did and no conspiracy theory's please.
I watched it live on tv.
There is one experiment that proved they landed and that is operational to this day, it was a reflector that had to be done by hand which still reflects laser light to this day..
But that is not the issuse here.
what have nasa really acheived..?
Nothing..I mean nothing in 40 years ,yes 40 years, think about it we went to moon and back with no more power than a pocket calculator.
Yet what have we today super computers..A home pc has millions of times more power that that of the moon landing
So where is the problem here..we should have been on mars at least 30 years ago.
and all we done was send probes.
All those billions spent on what.
A space shuttle that looks like a flying chicken..
A couple of probes sent to mars jupitor etc..so what.
when you consider what they done in 69 with shear courage.

In evolution there is general agreement that a matter turned into different matter (single cell-worm-fish-lizards-et... Now if the theory is based on these matters evolving on there own, where did that matter come from in the first place?.It can't have simply been there. Someone had to have made it who doesn't live under the laws of our universe. Because of this view point (and others), I find it hard to believe this theory and that there is not a Creator of some sort.

First, this community rocks. I only wish I could carry a conversation with some of the answerers, however this format is limited by (bad) design.

K, my question :

As I understand it. The universe is expanding. The further out we look, the faster the galaxies seem to be receding from us. There is a simple ratio involved : further out = faster speed of recession. There is also distance beyond which we can not see. My questions involves this distance.

Have any objects been seen, and can not be seen any more, because they are now beyond this distance?

Wouldnt objects beyond this distance be going (relative to us) faster than C?

If above is yes (seems likely to me) then an interesting side effect would be that we are able to get information about something going faster than light away from us. (gravitational pull of a galaxy near the edge, which could tell us how massive a nearby galaxy past the edge is)
