I can get my manicurist to write us both notes to be excused from work....we could have tea and crumpets while the others work!!!

No salons or manicurists on a spaceflight, so you couldn't get a manicure out there.

Don't worry. You have no chance of ever going on a real spaceflight. They do have minimum intelligence standards. Your nails are safe.

To answer your question from a technical language perspective, since you did not include a comma preceding the word 'because', the answer is, "No, it would have nothing to do with your manicure."
I speculate that you would have to work; anyone interested in and interesting enough to go into space within your lifetime would expect effort to be expended by all hands.

Yes. In fact, you might end up having to do extra work just because you just got a manicure: that strong smell would get everywhere in the spacecraft and "inconvenience" the other, more reasonable astronauts.
