Light speed = 186,000 miles/second
distance from Earth to Sun = 93,000,000 miles (1AU)
distance from Sun to Pluto = 40AU
So 93,000,000/186,000 = 500 seconds (8.33 minutes)
8.33minutes * 40 AU = 333.33 minutes (5.55 hours)
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Light from the Sun travels at 186,000 Miles per second.

Pluto is 3,700,000,000 Miles from tghe Sun.

Divide the little number into the big number and you will get
the total nuimber of seconds required for the trip.

To simplify things, there are 60 seconds in a minute. So you could divide the total number of seconds by 60 and get the total minutes, and divide that again by 60 to get hours of light travel.

I did the division and came up with 5.53 hours. See what you get.

I get 4 hours, 20 minutes, 36.9 seconds.

I look it up on the JPL Horizons web site. For today's date, it tells me that the light-time is 0.18100916 light-days from the Sun's center to Pluto's center. I convert this to seconds, subtract 2.320 seconds for the distance from the Sun's center to the surface, subtract 0.004 seconds for the distance from Pluto's center to the surface, and then convert the result to hours, minutes, and seconds.

By the way, 1 year from now the travel time will be 4 hours, 22 minutes, 6.2 seconds.

different anybody is suitable. we don't do you lots of a provider if we purely say the respond is (A) or (C). Your instructor gave you all of the tips you pick for (the gap to Pluto and the fee of sunshine) ... in case you do no longer understand a thank you to try this problem on your own, then what do you do while the question is concerning the time to Neptune on your try? right this is a huge TIP: Use the units! In different words, in case you do no longer understand what to multiply or divide by what, then look on the units! Step a million: Circle the units interior the tips you have. you have 2 values there ... one given in km the different in m/s (that's trivially convertible to km/s ... i'm hoping you already know a thank you to transform 'm' to 'km', do no longer you?). Step 2: What unit do you pick for? (hence the question is "how long" so which you pick for an answer later on units, like seconds). Step 3: How do you get the units you pick for (s) from the units you have (km and km/s)? answer: you *divide* km by km/s ... that's the comparable as *multiplying* km by s/km ... the km's cancel out, and you're left with s(econds). So hence you pick for to divide the gap (km) by the fee (km/s). Step 4: Use your calculator. This tells you the form of seconds. Repeat the above to transform seconds into hours. what proportion seconds are in an hour (s/h)? properly 60 s/minute x60 minutes/h = 360 s/h. that enables you to transform s(econds) to hours *divide* by 360 s/h ... the s(econds) cancel, and you're left with the form of hours. have confidence me ... understanding a thank you to play with the units will turn you right into a technological information whiz. a minimum of, once you think of you already know a thank you to do a difficulty, save THE units WITH THE NUMBERS ... the units could all come out appropriate interior the top. good success!
