In an early space shuttle mission, astronauts played with toys to show and study how the toys move and behave in microgravity. Does anyone know what mission that was or a link to video of the toys in space?

What are the northern lights?
When, where, and why can we see them?
Are they real or an illusion?
If they are real, how far away are they?

I would like to buy a spotting scope for star gazing. I have given up on telescopes and would prefer a nice pair of binoculars or a spotting scope. Which one is better for seeing the rings of Saturn at night? Thanks in advance!

It's the end of the Mayan calender. And there is scientific proof that a cycle of sorts will come to an end. What does that mean for us? Will we somehow be connected to the whole universe?

Regarding SETI, the program scans the entire sky, but sometimes will focus on the direction of a given star if there seems to be indication of "something" going on there. Stars are light years away, however. If ET exists, they may well have more sophisticated communication technology than ours - technology capable of instant message transferrence even over vast light years. All stars save but for our own are multiple light years away, so focusing on their -visual- location seems erroneous. Shouldn't we calculate where in the sky it would be right now and scan there instead of the visual location where it hasn't been for many years?

Radio waves are an impractical communications medium across astronomical distances and it's highly doubtful that any ordinary stray signal to ping one of our satellites would be strong enough to seem significant. . I think focusing on radio waves transmitted the "old-fashioned" way is a wasted effort. The only radio waves we could pick up <2 b continued...>

I understand that it doesn't really belong here, but if you think about it long enough, you'll see why I put it in the space section.

So, i threw it together in 3d studio and am wondering who else here understands what it means.

Is it really true that time dilation would significantly affect human age at high speeds. Or is it more likely that since because of the relative frame of time...say that 10 years passes on earth relative to 1 year on an outgoing space ship....that while people on earth will age 10 years, and people on the spacecraft will age 1 year based on their clocks.. However in reality 1 year is equivalent to 10 years. So looks can be deceiving. Or will people actually physically age?

If the future has not happened yet, and it seems highly unlikely that the past is stored anywhere, how can time travel even be theorised?

Think about it, the only thing that exists is the present moment, time is only there because man records it. Mankind probably just has a need to take full control over the universe, we can travel space, but not time and that frustrates the control freaks.

If someone held their breath and was able to teleport to the Moon would they be able to keep teleporting back and forth and just do stuff on the Moon or would it be impossible to hold your breath in space.

Also how long if they could would they be able to hold their breath for in space.

P.S the thing about people exploding is a myth.
