The Mayan calendar ends on Dec. 21, 2012. They predicted that when the calendar ends the earth will change. This date coincides with the astronimical event when the earth will be in line with the sun and the center of our galaxy (the milky way). At the center of our galaxy is a black hole, the most destructive and strongest force known to scientists. When Earth aligns with these to strong cosmic entities what will happen to people and the planet?

Due to the rotation of the moon and the Earth there are spots on the moon that cannot be seen from the Earth......right? So would it be possible to put a base on the moon in a position that could not be detected from Earth?

I'm talking about Apophis, April 13, 2013, 10 pm London time, they assured us it will miss and it's not until 2029, or 2036, or maybe 2070 something we "might" have to worry, (but now articles no longer mention the 2013 date at all). Wouldn't it be prudent to have the means ready to launch and intercept it just in case somehow (gravity well or something) they miscalculated?

I checked some photos of the latest New Horizons mission from space.com and all I get is black and white stills of many of the shots of Jupiter and its moons.

Is NASA that poor it can't afford color cameras to put on their space craft these days? You would think that with all the billions the agency gets, it could at LEAST afford some luxury like getting a color pic of Jupiter or its moons these days.

Or are we doomed to old-style photography for the next 30 years?
