Astronomy & Space - March 2007

So, Black holes emit x-rays in two jets. So, isn't possible for a black hole to be lurking somewhere close by, say 1 to 1000 lightyears that -could- be undetectable if none of the x-ray jets are aimed in our direction?
(Yes, I realize 1 light year away is basically impossible, but just of curiousity's sake...My son asked me about this and I thought it was a good question.)

Hi, I am having problems viewing the moon under my reflector telescope. I use one with 90X magnification but sometimes all I see is white light.

How can I view the surface of the moon well?

Recently putting my interest into astronomy into practice, taking a class and needing to memorize a few stars. My vantage point is not the best but I do have binoculars. I am able to find Orion just fine, even aldebaran, I can see Capella but after that I lose my bearings and find it hard to locate the elusive Andromeda. Can anyone help a beginner?
