Answering: what is a lunar eclipse? A lunar eclipse is when the moon passes through earth's shadow, so it's not in direct sunlight like it is most of the time.
When is the next one? March 3 07--Saturday evening at moon rise in the US, pretty much all night in Europe.
Since the moon is engulfed in Earth's shadow, location is not a problem, so long as the moon is above the horizon while this is happening.
What's the big deal? It only happens about twice a year, and the moon's supposed to turn this amazing deep red color.

the partial or complete hiding from view of Moon, when Earth comes between it and the Sun. Thus, the Moon can not receive any sunlight.
