you only ever see the small crescent in the morning when the moon is WANING or shrinking from full.
The moon and the sun have different orbits and thats why sometimes you can both see them in the sky at the same time.

When the moon is on the WAX, you can also see it in the sky with the sun, just usually in the early evening.

There is no special name for it. But it is a very common thing to see.
