Michael Collins manned the Apollo 11 command module.

NASA didn't send to moon Mr. Michael Collins. It was because he was the most important piece of the tripulation. He was the unique that could return to Earth bringing the Apollo ship. The others (most rememberd by the history, were (more) disposable than Michael Collins!

collins in the orbiting command and service module, but think how terrible it would have been for him if something had gone wrong on the moon with the other two and had to fly back home by himself...
