As I see it, there is more than the odd chance that Asteroid 2004 XP14 will cause the Moon to wobble (hitting it is impossible, because it will be over 35% off from the path of closest Earth proximity and at a different angle or attitude), and that this wobble could easily have unforseen effect on everything from tidal waves (creating gigantic waves!!!) to trigerring unusual movement deep inside our planet's core and thus affecting the movement of its tectonic plates, which could therefor cause the generation of major seismic activity, even bordering on the cataclysmic (e.g. Setting off the San Andreas Fault, which is currently overdue for a major "spring-back-like" release of energy (something akin to when a grasshopper or flea winds up its super-elastic hind-leg muscles and jumps fast, high and far !!!). I predict that within two days of its passing by, even within hours, it will have been the primary source cause of major earthquakes worldwide, especially setting of The San Andreas!

Have the North and South Poles always been the same during that same described period as they now are, or have they reversed. If they reversed, would not the rising of the sun be immediately reversed in the sky? Would not that be the most logical explanation for the flash frozen mastadons found some years back in Northern Siberia. Is there any other scientific evidence to support such a happening? Is there any written recorded history that could support that happening? What could have precipitated such a happening?

Gravity pulls the astronauts to the Earth while the ship propels them forward, thereby causing the orbit. Since everything in the ship is essentially falling, there is the sense of weightlessness. What if the ship is headed to another planet, lets say Mars. Will the astronauts still be "weightless"? Or will their bodies be pulled towards the source of greatest gravity? I get the weightlessness during orbit, but what if they are not in orbit, traveling a straight path to another destination? If they are "weightless", why does this happen if they are no longer in an orbit?

Why is it that science teaches us that earth's mountains, canyons, easily recognized puzzle piece separations of continents and tipped stratta we see everywhere across the face of our fair planet all are the result of billions of years of jerky incremental earth movement varying from inches to feet upon the occurence of any one movement? Add the multi-directional movement & collapse caused by those earth quakes, to erosion by winds, water flow, water freezing/thawing, gravitational forces coupled with the sun's heating & night's cooling of our earth's exposed surfaces. Slowly but surely, the sum of those actions, plus the continual bombardment by comets/asteroids,cause those same surfaces of planet Earth's to crack, crumble, explode & tumble about over the eons of her tortured existence. Yet everywhere the lofty cragged peaks of mountain ranges around the globe fail to show the rounded time worn faces we would expect to see from the action of those same unending incremental forces.

This is something that I have been pondering for some time. If the universe is everything, how can it be expanding? What does it have to expand into? And how can anything just go on forever?

I mean by sending up the Shuttle with the foam problem and everything. It seems like there will be an insane amount of backlash on NASA if anything goes wrong.

Okay, for all those who are about to go: "the dark side of the moon is not visible because it is on the other side." I know my ABC's thank you, I am not asking the --farside-- of the moon, I am asking the dark side of the moon that we can see during the waxing and waning phases.

My quiestion is simple: If sun is the only notable source of illumination in our planetary system how can we see (or barely make out) the dark side of the moon?

Yes you have to look a little careful, but you can see it's contours and such. How come?
