I once saw some lights travel together very fast across the sky 40 years ago.

How? With my unaided eyes.

I was unable to identify them, so to me they remain unidentified flying objects. I don't know what they were, where they came from, or where they went, and couldn't begin to guess.

US intelligence spy things that cannot be identified are unidentified flying objects (when they are flying). When they are on the ground, they are unidentified things on the ground.

Yes I have and not just was it at first Unidentified but I even was able to identify it as something that is unlikely to have been created on this crazy planet.... For it flew at great speed and changed direction suddenly without any evidence of graduality or curvature of trajectory!!! When it was closest to me it had slowed down enough for me to see that is was in the shape of a flying saucer, silvery and with many blue, red and green flashing lights here and there... It also had a marking on it that looked lide a "V" with a line and loop at one end!!! And it was around noon in the Southern Californian dessert (outside San Bernardino)...blue skies...barely a cloud and the sun shining brightly... Fortunately my sunglasses were on, because it seemed very bright even then... And I heard a weird, deep hum-like sound with a slight "sheesh" as one hears when you put a few drops of water in a hot frying pan! Perhaps it was man-made...

Yes, I have. Fortunately, someone else was with me and saw it, too.
It was late at night while driving east about 25 miles west of Phoenix, Az.
I looked out my right side window (south) and saw two rows of six lights each, the left row a bit higher than the right one. I can only estimate, but each row was exactly the same length and appeared to be about the length of 3 football fields. My brother was sleeping in the back seat and I screamed for him to wake up and look. He just stared and kept saying "Oh, my God." I had to keep looking back and forth from the road to the lights. The lights appeared to just glow as opposed to casting their light. They remained there for appoximately 3 minutes and suddenly, starting with the higher row on the left, went out in sequence starting with the one closest to me, followed by the lower row on the right which did the same thing.
The first thing my brother said was "You know we can't tell anyone about this because they'll say we're nuts, on drugs, been drinking, or just made it up, and I'm not going to listen to someone tell me that I didn't see what I just saw."
I'm not going to even pretend I know what it was, but I was watching a tv program of films people have taken of UFO's and saw one that was exactly like what we saw.
I always wondered if people made up those stories, now I know they don't.

Always right from childhood, and since many centuries, man has this obsession for newer things, newer objects, super powers.
That's why, we can see WHY SUPERMAN, HARRY POTTER SERIES are highly successful. It is better to think about living objects and creatures on earth. As on date, there are no UFOs. No wild imagination please. One should fall into this trap.
