i thought it was a missile

i live in cali...but this thing also had a trail of smoke and it was bright. it wasnt no plane. i was staring south and it came from the north west heading south east. i am in cali, san fernando valley

Actually the Military just launched a rocket with a classified satellite about 30mins ago. It was launched from Vandenberg AFB in California. If you live on the west coast you very well could have seen it. I was watching the live webcast off the Internet.

That was definatly the Delta IV that launched from Vandenberg. You live right in the path of the flight.

I saw something or other moving across the sky going in the same direction at about 9:30 It looked like a star, it definitely wasnt a plane. But I dont think it was the same thing you saw because I am in British Columbia. It was kinda weird though

Haha are you trying to scare people? I hope it wasn't a missile! Maybe it could've been North Korea's satellite that they were talking about. The "missile" they've been talking about is rumored to possibly be a satellite, and if they just launched it, the military will know before the press does. So...

Do you live out west? When the military tests missiles at White Sands in New Mexico, it can be seen for hundreds and hundreds of miles.

yes I did but I see all sorts of things:airplanes,helecopters, balloons,once I saw a meteorite so it didn't freak me out.

that was a dry run or a test.........its an interceptor.
