My father was in the Navy before they had radar. These big ships don't turn easily and the officers had to worry about worry about running into other ships. My dad taught me a trick about avoiding collisions.

Just using eyesight and knowing where the other ship was in relationship to their bow, how could they tell if they were on a potential collision course?

How did you learn to simplify radicals (like simplifying sq.rt.48 to 4 sq.rt.3 or cube root 48 to 2 cube root 6)

I think I discovered a new way to simplify radicals that is simple, easy, works every time, and with slight modification, can work for roots of any power (cube roots, 10th power roots, etc.). I want to see if anyone else has learned how I do it though.

How does the rational roots theorem show that the roots of this function are all irrational?

f(x)= x^3-30x^2+275x-720

I know rational roots theorem is finding out all possible roots by taking all the factors (p) of the constant, and dividing it by all the factors (q) of the highest power. In otherwords, all possible roots = (p/q)

But since q can only be 1 here, how are all the roots "Irrational"?

A wild animal preserve can support no more than 120 elephants. 33 elephants were known to be in the preserve in 1980. Assume that the rate of growth of the population is

dP/dt = 0.0007P(120 - P)

where time is in years. Find a formula for the elephant population in terms of t.

idk if this stuff will help but here are some equations...

dP/dt = kP(M - P)

P = M / 1+Ae^-(Mk)t

Let 1980 = t = 0

plz explain if u can and steps would be awesome.... thank you

Can you show mathematically why it is or isn't possible? By a "smooth, wavy edge", I mean a non-straight, undulating edge with no creases running into it, i.e., the wavy edge is the only crease in the paper.

Is my Doctor looking for something?
I see a pediatrician (I'm 13) and I have seen her ever since I was 4, but whenever I see her she always looks like she's looking for something on me. She just kind of looks at me. What can she tell by looking at me? My friend (who see's her also) say's that she could be seeing if your flushed, or pale or something but we're clueless and curious.

Be Serious. Most ideas gets best answer! Also, don't be afraid to put some medical term in there (I can google it) if you are a doctor or a nurse......Thank you!

And happy new year!

Also, I know I've posted this question before but I am not getting answers. Please do not answer if you've been one of the few people who answered before!

i) abc is not equal to 0
ii) (a+b)/c = (b+c)/a = (a+c)/b = p
prove that the straight line y=px+p passes through the 2nd and 3rd quadrants.

Let n ≥ 2 be a positive integer. Initially, there are n fleas on a horizontal line, not all at the same point.

For a positive real number λ, define a move as follows:

Choose any two fleas at points A and B, with A to the left of B;

let the flea at A jump to the point C on the line to the rightof B with BC/AB=λ.

Determine all values of λ such that point M on the line and any initial positions of the n fleas, there is a finite sequence of moves that will take all the fleas to positions to the right of M
