Ok. Solve the logarithmic equation. round answer to 3 decimal places, if necessary.

1. log(x+1) + log(x-2) = log4

2. log(base of 5) (x+4) + log(base of 5) x = 1

I know the addition means multiplication, right? well I can't seem to factor it out right. But this is going to be graded and I really need to get a 100! So please help me, or atleast help me solve the equation to get the answer!

The first one my answer is 141.42, i really think i am major wrong with that one lol

And for the second one i got - 4

Thanks!

"Eternally blue skies, palm trees, a bone dry climate, red earth, mountains around the big city, with a slightly extraterrestrial, "Mars Oasis" feeling; abundant lifestyle comforts like swimming pools, theme restaurants, and golf courts everywhere."

Where could that be? What do you think? It sounds like just the place I'd want to live in.
