This question is for the physics gurus, or just anyone who understand general physics better than I.
Here is a link to the diagram I will be refering to

The 50 lbs to compress bit is very flexible, basically im looking for a range between 25-50lbs, no more than or less than that range however. This is a project I am having to delay because of not having the correct spring - and I know one exists! I just dont feel like quessing and checking without having a starting point.

physical limitations for the spring:
-Must fit in the 1" chamber, preferably a sixteenth or so smaller for squirm room.
-must fit around a 7/16" rod
-Compressed length must be around 1"
-Extended length can be w/e is neccesary to meet the requirements.

Sorry for the detailed post, as you can tell I pretty much know what i'm doing, just havent made it all the way through general physics yet and my mechanical skills are ahead of my physics skills

Every fall it seams as though, many more than usual, squirrels run in front of autos as if they are trying to get killed. They don't seem to try as hard to get out of the way as they do in the summer. Are they afraid they might not be strong enough to get through the winter so they just want to end it? Is it a Mother Nature thing? Only the strong will survive?

I'm a first year med student, and for the last month I've been trying to decide which of the two books to buy. I can't afford both and I've glanced through both of them and they seem equally good.

I've also read Amazon reviews and I can swear there is a conspiracy as the both have identical review ratings. So please could any med student (not first years prefferably) or lecturers who have had experience with both and have a prefference for one over the other please explain why it's the better of the two.

No silly comments e.g: "Grey's rock period" just sensible concise answers please. If you are a KCL student, I'll be very greateful if you said so because your preffered book maybe more suited to the course.

Thank you very much in advance.
