use long division of the area polynomial. or just factor it. if you factor you see that the answer needs to be either b or d. (because the x^2 coefeciant is 9, and you divide it by 3, you need three. ) since the constant in the big polynomial is negative, and the constant in the divosor is negative, you need a positive constant in one of the factors. so b is the answer. since lenght times width equals area... 3x+1*3x-1 equals the area.

Area = Width times Length
where Area = 9x^2 - 18x - 7 and Width = 3x-7
A= WL
(9x^2-18x-7) = (3x-7)( L )
factor the left side of the equation
(3x-7) (3x+1) = (3x-7)( L )
therefore the length must be the other factor

Area = width x length
by factoring the function f(x) = 9x^2 - 18x - 7 which is the area;
we get ;
f(x) = (3x - 7) (3x + 1)
the function f(x) is actually two two terms multiplied together, so if we assumed that the width of the area is (3x - 7), then (3x + 1) has to be the length.
to verify our answer;
Area = length x width
f(x) = (3x - 7) (3x + 1)
by expanding the function f(x), which is the area;
f(x) = 9x^2 + 3x - 21x - 7
area = f(x) = 9x^2 -18x -7
hope it helps

9x^2 - 18 - 7 divided by 3x-7 will give you the answer.
So ask yourself what times (3x-7) will give you 9x^2 - 18 - 7?
(3x - 7) (3x + 1) does.
Therefore
3x + 1 feet is your answer.

no longer something because of the fact i'm donning those skinny rayon print pants with a T-shirt that I positioned on as pj's & front room positioned on for in-between climate. i like them, yet regrettably, they haven't any wallet. when I went exterior to study the Sunday paper, I tossed on a sunhat & a loose-installation oversize jean jacket with Kleenex & keys crammed interior the wallet. in no way ever step exterior with out the keys.

You can do the division
. . . . . .3x + 1
. . . . . - - - - - - - - - - - -
3x - 7) 9x^2 -18x - 7
. . . . . .9x^2 - 21x
. . . . . . - - - - - - - -
. . . . . . . . . . . .3x - 7
. . . . . . . . . . . .3x - 7
. . . . . . . . . . . .- - - - -
Or you could factor the trinomial
