In other words, when your neighbor asks to borrow your ladder and pays you back by giving you roast corn off the grill or she takes care of your kids a couple of days a week so you have time to yourself and you do the same for her that is part of the informal economy. When you pay the neighbor's kid ten bucks to mow your lawn, that is not.
