In the effort to introduce legitimate science into this category, I ask this specifically of those who believe that ghost research is science, not pseudoscience. For those who believe ghosts aren't simply hallucinations or illusions, read on.

The foundational question, "What is a ghost?", must be answered scientifically before any other kind of ghost research is undertaken, since science is a process whereby new knowledge is built directly upon established knowledge. This requires:

1) Using known physical theories, show that they predict the existence of a "ghost" and that a falsifiable hypothesis can be formed and investigated.

2) Show how our knowledge of physics predicts the nature of the "ghost", i.e., define it with equations if possible.

Please be scientific. That is, your explanation has to be firmly grounded in theory, not conjecture. No handwaving about how a ghost is an echo, or an imprint on the atmosphere, or some such wild and nebulous conjecture.

Okay, so this is my assignment but I have no idea how to do it. I've been trying to figure it out since last night.

b. write out the substrates, enzymes and products of at least three steps in the following format, with one enzymatic step per line:

Substrates --[enzyme]--> product(s)

c. Indicate the source you used for obtaining this information.

He gave an example:
Pathway: Pyrimidine biosynthesis
1. bicarbonate + glutamine + 2 ATP --[carbamoylphosphate synthetase]--> carbamoylphosphate + glutamate +2 ADP + 2 phosphates
2. carbamoylphosphate + aspartate --[aspartate transcarbamoylase]--> carbamoylaspartate + phosphate
3. carbamoylaspartate --[dihydroorotase]--> dihydroorotate + water
Source: Neuhard, J. & Nygaard, P. (1987). Purines and Pyrimidines. In Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium: Cellular and Molecular Biology.

The pathway I've chosen is Oxidative Phosphorylation.
So could someone help me please?

In class we used calorimeters to determine the caloric density of one planters peanut, but the resulting number was much much lower than the planters label indicates. My teacher asked us why that is and of course i said because the serving size on the label is much larger than the one we used in the experiment. she said this was wrong. the only hint she gave is that every year in her class the experiments caloric density gets lower and lower. Does anyone know why?

one is
solve the following equation to find x in terms of a and b, assuming that a can not equal b.
i know the answer to this is x = -a-b but how do you get to that.
the other is
x in terms of y and t, assuming that y+3t can not equal 0.
i have attempted this one and worked it out to be x= 3t - y. but am still not sure how to solve them.
if you could explain very simply and clearly to me how you solve these that would be great as i am having problems understanding what to do.
thank you for any help you can give.
