You can also just show the power as 0.4, which is a little easier to do.

X ^ (2/5) = X ^ (0.4)

Fractional powers are easy when you realize that the numerator is the root you are looking for (square, cubed, etc.) and the denominator is the power to which the number is raised.

You can either:

1) square the number and take the 5th root
2) take the 5th root and square the result
3) raise it to 2/5 = 0.4 (use calculator)
