Why is it that everyone is against hybrids in different species such as birds and dogs. Their argument is that they want to 'preserve' certain species. for instance some macaws are said to be endangered species so it is frowned upon to breed hybrid macaws (ie a blue & gold to a greenwing to get a harlequin) . However, these same people encourage the breeding of hybrid humans? Why is it ok to breed some animals while the very thought of limiting other animals (ie humans) is extremely politically incorrect? Why is one species important to protect and preserve while other animals are not?

I am absolutely stumped regarding this questions. Could someone please assist me? I would be extremely grateful.

A runner is jogging at a steady v = 8.4 km/hr. When the runner is L = 4.9 km from the finish line, a bird begins flying from the runner to the finish line at V = 16.8 km/hr (2 times as fast as the runner). When the bird reaches the finish line, it turns around and flies back to the runner. We will assume that the bird occupies only one point in space, ie., a zero length bird.

How far does the bird travel? Answer in units of km.

ALSO:

After this first encounter, the bird then turns around and flies from the runner back to the finish line, turns around again and flies back to the runner. The bird repeats the back and forth trips until the runner reaches the finish line.

How far does the bird travel from the beginning? (ie include the distance traveled to the first encounter) Answer in units of km.

Hey.

I need some help on the volume of a Cylinder. Let's say that the height is 1.1m and the diamter is 90cm. In my mathematics book the answer is 0.70cm3.

If i were in an examination and i the exact question could i put the answer down as 70cm3? Or does it have to be exactly 0.70cm3? By the way could someone be kind enough to tell me how to get 0.70cm3? What do i round off?

Thanks.

Derive sin2x + cos2x = 1

with only using

cos(x + y) = (cosx)(cosy) - (sinx)(siny)
sin(-x) = -sinx
cos(-x) = cosx
cos0 = 1

Please explain how to solve the problem. Thank You.

I have to solve this quadratic equation by completing the square. This is as far as I have gotten.

2x^2 +10x + 11=0
2x^2 + 10x = -11
2x^2/2 + 10x/2 = -11/2
x^2 + 5x = -11/2
x^2 + 5x + 1 = -11/2 + 1
(x + )^2 = sqrt -9/2~this is where I am stuck.
I don't know what else to do after this...can some one help me out?
