Why is it that everyone is against hybrids in different species such as birds and dogs. Their argument is that they want to 'preserve' certain species. for instance some macaws are said to be endangered species so it is frowned upon to breed hybrid macaws (ie a blue & gold to a greenwing to get a harlequin) . However, these same people encourage the breeding of hybrid humans? Why is it ok to breed some animals while the very thought of limiting other animals (ie humans) is extremely politically incorrect? Why is one species important to protect and preserve while other animals are not?

Humans are one species. It would actually be more akin to humans mating with apes if it were possible that we'd be against for a similar situation. I can see that.

However, I'm in agreement with you as it regards teh BREEDS, such as dogs and most will say that's actually harmful to dogs to breed "pure lines"

You're kind of mixing a couple different things, there, although the question is a good one. First, the idea of "pure strains" - well, in most animals (and plants for that matter), that involves extensive inbreeding, which is generally not too good for the organism. Sex is, after all, a way of avoiding the problems that come up with inbreeding - think of recessive alleles, for example. "Hybrid vigor" isn't just a meaningless phrase. As to breeding endangered species with other species; it's probably a better thing to try to save the particular andangered species than to 'force-breed' it out of existance, but that's a big can of worms whose mix of factors is different for each situation. It would be dumb to make a "one-size-fits-all" rule for something as messy as that. I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to with this "hybrid human" thing, but I would ask you to think about whatever you're referring to as "politically incorrect". Usually that term is defined when used as: "something that other people disagree with me about, so they're wrong, stupid and bad, because I'm self-evidently right, wise and good." When you catch yourself thinking that way, take a step back and another look at it.

Since humans are one species, presumably you are talking about people from different ethnicities, "races" or whatever you want to call it. Their children are not hybrids. To oppose mixing of people of different ethnicities is racism. Racism has caused so much suffering over human history. People are naturally attracted to those of different groups--why deny their happiness? Plus, we're already all mixed up anyway--there are not distinct human populations, and there never have been. There's nothing anyone can do to stop or reverse the diversity that's already there. Racism is indeed "politically incorrect"--for good reason.

If you are talkiing about humans and other animals--a different story of course. Our closest relative are chimps, and we can't even interbreed with them due to a difference in chromosome number, among other things. I always enjoyed the planet of the Apes movies. There's also a fun Simpson's episode where they are transformed into half human, half animal things. All of this is fiction, of course.
