Formula:
-b +/- √b²-4ac / 2a

prob.
x²+6x-4=0
plug values.

1) -6 +/- √36-4*1*-4
2) -6 +/- √52

I retry. Complete Square way.

(x+6/4)²-36/16=4 +36/16
(x+3/2)²=100
\ect...Which will turn out different. BS.

God SMACK this is G@y.
Damn. Help, Quadratic are so stupid shyt. Can't even solve this. Damn.itt

They are about the size of olives, but taste like plums. The skin is a dark indigo color, but the flesh is orange and red, like plums. It contains a long, pointed, flat pit.

i'd like to hear some ideas on terraforming mars, keeping in mind that it is a "dead" planet in that it has no magnetosphere to protect it from the sun's radiation. also keep in mind that i don't mean that"dead" also means hopeless. hmmmm...could just starting its core back up somehow do the whole shabang?

Ok, this is not really a question. I had to put the interrogative line so as to fulfill the pestering question mark which displays automatically at the end.

I had some good times here in YA mathematics, but now I finally feel what it really is: an out-of-school club for whining K12 kids massively poor at arithmetic, willing to have their trivial homeworks done without even the self-pride of trying by themselves. In this environment, only the quantity of answers counts. No real interest in the charm of a proof (and by the way, the point system is obviously too shallow to adequately represent one's efforts towards the beauty).

I'll get back to my cave keeping the fire of curiosity alive. I took from the library "a concise introduction to the theory of numbers" by Alan Baker. May I suggest you all take a good book and read it, to heck with YA!

Thank you for your attention at my long and uncalled-for rant. Goodbye and good luck with your studies.

I have been reading about all the money used to send ships to Mars and to Jupitor' rings to explore etc, but don't you think it is more appropriate to use all that money to benefit man here on Earth. The bridge colapsed in Minn, and many bridges in NY and NJ are obsolete, so don't you think all that money would be more wisely spent on rebuilding or fixing or making new bridges, or should more bridges fail. What good is it if we can go to outer space if we can't go into the next state?

According to Brian Greene, The Fabric of the COSMOS (his CDs), if the whole universe could be reduced to the size of earth, the part of it that would be available to us for observation would be the size of a grain of rice; that the light produced by distant planets and galaxies have not yet had time to reach us, and won't until well after the earth and our solar system has long gone out of existence.

If that is so, then how can astronomers say that they have looked as far back as the first star systems at the edge of the universe?

A student measures the potential of a cell made up with 1 M CuSO4 in one solution and 1 M AgNO3 in the other. There is a Cu electrode in the CuSo4 and an Ag electrode in the AgNO3, and the cell is set up in a "voltmeter." She finds that the potential, or voltage, of the cell, E^0cell, is 0.45 V, and that the Cu electrode is negative

a)At which electrode is oxidation occurring?
b)Write the equation for the oxidation reaction.
c)Write the equation for the reduction reaction.

d)If the potential of the silver, silver ion electrode, E^0Ag+, Ag is taken to be 0.000 V in oxidation or reduction, what is the value of the potential for the oxidation reaction, E^0Cu, Cu2+oxid? E^0cell=E^0oxid + E^0red.

e) If E^0Ag+, Agred equals 0.80 V, as in standard tables of electrode potentials, what is the value of the potential of oxidation reaction of copper, E^0Cu, Cu2+oxid?

f) Write the net ionic equation for the spontaneous reaction that occurs in teh cell that the student studied.
