1. Dick spent $7 in order to buy baseballs and tennis balls. If baseballs are 70 cents each and tennis balls are 60 cents each, what is the greatest possible number of tennis balls that Dick could've brought? I just guessed and checked for this and got 7 but would like to know a algebraic way.

2. If the average of 4 #'s is 8000 and the average of 3 of the 4 numbers is 7500, then what must the 4th number be?

An experiment was performed in which an empty 100 mL graduated cylinder was weighed. It was weighed once again after it had been filled to the 10.0 mL mark with dry sand. A 10mL pipet was used to transfer 10.0 mL of methanol to the cylinder. Use the data (below) to find the density of dry sand, the density of methanol, and the density of sand particles.

Mass of cylinder plus wet sand 45.2613 g
Mass of cylinder plus dry sand 37.3488 g
Mass of empty cylinder 22.8317 g
Volume of dry sand 10.0 mL
Volume of sand + methanol 17.6 mL
Volume of methanol 10.00 mL

I was able to get the first two densities, but how do you find the density of sand particles?

A 12.5843g sample of ZrBr4 was dissolved and, after several steps, all of the combined bromine was precipitated as AgBr. The silver content of AgBr was found to be 13.2160g. Assume the atomic masses of silver and bromine to be 107.868 and 79.904. What value was obtained for the atomic mass of Zr from this experiment?
(I have the correct answer but I need to know the procedure for solving the problem)

"The problem says to sketch the curve represented by te parametric equations and write the corresponding rectangular equation by eliminating the parameter." This is the problem:

x=3t-1, y=2t+1

This is how the problem is solved in the solutions manaual.:

Step 1: y=2((x+1)/3)+1
Step 2: 2x-3y+5=0

No how does step one develop into step 2??? In lost on this!

I am reviewing a survey on a property ion New Jersey and the Surveyor has noted "IP found" at some of the corners of the property. What does this mean? Also, some of the property contains wetlands, not active water, but secondary "marshes". There are 50 foot "transition areas" Does anyone know whether or not it is permissable to plant trees, flowers or other vegetation in theses transition areas and whether or not the property owner is permitted to mow the lawn in these transition areas?
